Waveshaper releases ‘The Phantom Machine (Film Edit)’

Synthwave producer Waveshaper has released ‘The Phantom Machine (Film Edit)’ –  an extended version for the upcoming short film by the same name, directed by Jendo Shabo, while the original track is part of his recently released album Mainframe.

The prolific Swede has already scored soundtracks for a slew of productions including video games and films, and has an online following that has provided over 65 million streams.

He cut his teeth on an Amiga 500 back in the early 90’s, and draws influence from the retro sounds of video games and 80s VHS movies.

‘The Phantom Machine (Film Edit) is threaded through with shadowy undertones, and the kind of urgency one would expect from a synthwave track created for a science-fiction horror film. The release of the film coincides with Halloween, and thus its dark sonic textures and progressive soundscape seem fitting. Watch the teaser here.

Waveshaper gives the low-down:  “The Phantom Machine is a synthwave short film that will be released on October 28. The movie is made by Helios Films and directed by Jendo Shabo. The movie is a science fiction horror story that will make this Halloween special for synthwave fans.”
