Playing a single live show takes effort. Crowds often see how musicians sweat as they work to maintain crowd energy. You only need to take one look at a musician after a live set to understand how much of themselves they pour themselves into the one or two hours they are on stage. Having participated in over 50 shows in the US alone since 2019, producer Das Mörtal has poured himself into his performances at a number of music festivals around the globe, including Osheaga Festival in Montreal, Quebec and the multi-day festival Les Transmusicales in France, not to mention having supported the acclaimed Synthwave producer Perturbator for two of his two European tours.

However, this time Das Mörtal has stuck to the studio, releasing a new single titled ‘WASTED’, where he attacks with thumping kicks, rapid-fire snare rolls, and a vocal sample that takes us back to the era of the legendary English band Depeche Mode. The result is a heady throwback single, fitting for a producer who reminisces over lost time. “This track came about when I was trying to produce more music during the pandemic but, mentally being unable to sit in front of my workstation, thus feeling remorse for wasting valuable time,” he shared.
